In May 2022, the Remotive team went on our first-ever company trip.
Why? For the primary time in history, to collect everyone under one roof!
We desired to make the most of that magical, personal collaboration that individuals at all times speak about. We also desired to strengthen team bonds and reward the team for our exertions in the course of the pandemic. To begin with, we thought it could be fun.
And why shouldn’t or not it’s the identical with a band like us?

Trip
We hosted a retreat in Split, Croatia. Why? It’s a ravishing country where Maja and Adrien already live, and besides, Vic and I actually desired to visit Europe, but we have never been to Croatia. As well as, Maja was a guide in Split, so she took care of many logistical issues, akin to booking accommodation, organizing activities and meals, and being our local Croatian translator. Thanks, Maj!
As you will notice below, we had a full schedule, but not a good one. We’re all introverts, so socializing exhausts us. Although we had a minimum of one group activity daily, Rodolphe made sure we took advantage of our free time to recharge. (I used to be very drained, so I took this time to take a nap. 😴)
A very powerful thing
I won’t bore you with the main points of every little thing we did on this trip, but I’ll inform you about my favorite moments. Every a part of the trip was enjoyable and well done, but a number of experiences stood out to me:
- Trip
- Bromance
- Jump
- sailing
- Bee
Trip
On the primary day of the retreat, Maja showed us across the Old Town of Split. Although she claims her guiding skills are rusty, she remembered enough to color a captivating picture of Split’s history.
Did you already know that town grew out of the so-called retirement home of the former Roman Emperor? Me neither. Game of Thrones was also filmed there, but you most likely knew that.
Bromance
On the second day, in the course of the same dinner where we met Maja’s beloved one-year-old son, Spiro, and learned that Adrien likes children, we also learned that Rodolphe and Adrien are best friends. They went to highschool together in France. They each love cycling and sailing (and Remotive) and visit one another commonly.
Jump
Rafting on the Cetina River with Go on an adventure was memorable for a lot of reasons. First, dozens of sunshine blue dragonflies flitting along the river bank. Secondly, the shock of the icy water when our kayak capsized. Twice.
Finally, jump from a 7-meter cliff into an icy river. At the tip of the tour, when the guide offered us the chance to leap, the fearless Adrien was the primary to leap into the water. I went with somewhat more hesitation, after which Vic jumped up, overcoming her fear of heights. I’ll always remember how exciting the jump was and the way painful it was to land within the water with my arms outstretched 😧.
sailing
I actually enjoyed Day 4 because I really like boats. Day 4 was a sailing cruise across the Croatian islands Condor Yachting. We spent the day exploring the islands, drinking wine, swimming and eating good food with the team and our plusses.
Bee
You do not know what you do not know, and I didn’t know as much about bees as I assumed I knew. We ended our sailing trip with a visit to Tvrdić bee farm on Solta. The farm is run by Goran, whose grandfather began keeping bees many years ago as a hobby and now continues the legacy as a business owner.
Goran taught us that queens are created – not born – by feeding them royal jelly in larval form. Queens don’t sleep; they spend their entire lives giving birth to a number of children. All employee bees are female. You possibly can potentially cure your pollen allergy by eating local bee pollen. He also sold us some pretty delicious honey.
To sum up, the trip was an enormous success. We got to know one another higher and created memories that can last a lifetime. It was as fun as going to an adult sleepaway camp.
In the course of the retreat, we also set goals regarding recent projects and changes that we would love to introduce in the subsequent yr. A few of these changes will go live soon, akin to an updated home page, but more remains to be to come back. Control us since the Remotive team is larger and higher than ever. 😉
